Stinson LLP is seeking an Attorney with ten years or more of experience to join the Energy, Environmental, Mining, and Transportation Division, in any of Stinson’s offices.
Qualified applicants will possess excellent academic credentials and have strong writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Qualifications Required: The candidate must have at least ten years of legal experience, with significant experience working with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and balance of plant agreements, equipment supply contracts, long-term service agreements and related matters, with the ideal candidate having experience in connection with the development and construction of energy projects.
Excellent writing, oral advocacy skills, and academics are required. The successful candidate should have the following experience and skills:
- Significant responsibility for drafting and negotiating EPC and balance of plant agreements and equipment supply contracts on energy projects such as wind, solar, or gas generating facilities; battery storage facilities; electrical transmission projects; and other energy-related infrastructure.
- Experience drafting and negotiating agreements related to the EPC contracting framework, such as subcontracts and vendor agreements:
- Experience with drafting and negotiating asset management agreements; operations and maintenance agreements; long-term service agreements; services and maintenance contracts; and similar contracts with major equipment vendors and service providers.
- Also helpful would be transactional experience in commercial construction, particularly design-build agreements but also including other construction and construction-related agreements.
- Litigation experience on EPC- and construction-related matters may also be helpful.
- Experience working as part of teams of attorneys on EPC- and construction-related (including project development) matters.
- The ability to apply creative, strategic, and analytical thinking to identify and resolve complex legal issues.
- Experience with clients in the renewable energy, power generation and related sectors, and the ability to follow trends in these industries, identify new business opportunities, and build relationships with existing and potential clients.
Active license to practice or the ability to waive in to practice in the desired location is required. Exceptional academic performance and excellent research, writing and analytical skills are required.
